Merauke, Jubi (26/2) – Five people reported missing following an incident in Papua New Guinea waters earlier this month are believed to be alive.

The head of the Merauke Border Agency, Albert Muyak, said he had received a letter from the Secretary of Moheb district in PNG a few days ago informing him that Ferdy Tjoa, Robin Rachel, John Kaize and Fikra are alive and are now staying there.

The letter has been handed in to the Merauke regent, Romanus Mbraka, Muyak told tabloidjubi.com on Wednesday (26/2).

He said he planned to meet the head of the border department of Papua province and the PNG Consulate. “Yes, tomorrow I am flying to Jayapura to cunsult this with the border department and Vanimo- PNG Consulate because the regency can not take over this matter right away”, he said.

Separately, spokeperson of the Merauke Representatives Council, Leonardus Mahuze, said that he had heard the good news

“I’ve also talked to Regent Merauke, Romanus Mbaraka, in order to seek the truth about the information and urged him to immediately to take action,” Mahuze said. (Jubi / Frans L Kobun/Tina)
