Merauke, 5/2 (Jubi) – Merauke Regent Romanus Mbaraka acknowledged some development programs had brought little benefit to the population, especially the indigenous people of Papua, three years into his administration.

“Honestly, I must admit that under our leadership with vice regent, Sunarjo, there are many things that should be done for people in the villages,” said Romanus in a speech at the closing session of the RAPBD (Regional Annual Budget Plan) meeting on Tuesday (2/4).
However he said that the Development Movement Program for the Village (Gerbangku) had benefited the people through infrastructure development and economic empowerment over the past three years.
“I also expect  support from all sections of society, including the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) of Merauke regency, to join hands together to contribute thoughts and ideas,  so that various development programs can be run as expected,” he pleaded.
The chairman of Merauke’s DPRD, Leonardo Mahuze said that despite the government and DPRD’s good intentions to develop, arrogant actions by village officials seeking to control the funds have resulted in dissatisfaction among people in villages. (Jubi / Ans/Tina)
